Young, Allen E., 86, Johnstown, died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Born February 27, 1929 to the late Thomas and Esther (Skelly) Young. Preceded in death by wife, Vesta J. (McCutcheon) Young; and daughter, Leslie Ann Young. Survived by wife, Ives M. (Miller) Young; children, Mark, (Mary Ann); Joel, (Donna); Holly Powell, (Doug); step-children, Timothy, Daniel, and Brian Miller; brother, Thomas Young; sisters, Donna Wagoner, (Robert); Jean Ann Williams; grandchildren, Hannah and Jackson Powell; Leslie Rose and Andrea Kathryn Young; nine step-grandchildren; and five step- great grandchildren. Allen was a 1947 graduate of Johnstown High School and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne and served as a Sergeant and Paratrooper during the Korean War. Allen worked as a block operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad while putting himself through college. The majority of Allen’s career was spent working as a salesman for U.S. Steel. He was an avid golfer and a loving father who enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. August 15 at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the VFW.
