Chervenic, Bonita L. (Grabenstein), 74, Johnstown, passed away July 22, 2016. Born August 13, 1941 in Johnstown, daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Swete) Grabenstein. Survived by her husband of 57 years, Andrew (Andy/Terry); children, George Chervenic and wife Susan, Herndon, VA, Leann Poeth-Chervenic and husband Philip, the Netherlands, Diane Berkebile and husband Tim, Confluence, PA; grandchildren, Sydney Chervenic, Drew, Amy Jane, Anna, and Clay Berkebile, and Yuri Poeth; sister, Mary Louise Behe and husband John, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Judy Maurer, Johnstown; and numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives, and friends; especially longtime friends Judy Czyrnik, Kathy Smith, and Dave and Mildred Alvares. Bonnie loved life and cherished her family and friends. She was formerly employed by Blough’s Deli in Davidsville, Holiday Retirement Communities, and retired as a cashier from Labrokes in Johnstown. Bonnie and her husband enjoyed traveling, including trips to Hawaii, Paris, Dublin, and many European cities. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and bringing together friends and family for parties and fun. Bonnie often said “remember me with smiles and laughter for that is how I remember you. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all” (Quote by Laura Ingalls Wilder). She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. By request of the deceased and family, there will be no viewing. A funeral mass will be held August 8th at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown. Family and friends are welcome to a memorial lunch at Anthony’s immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
