Weakland, Bonita “Bonnie” L. (Yeckley), 68, Hastings, passed away Nov. 20, 2015, at UPMC-Altoona, surrounded by her large loving family and friends. She was born March 4, 1947, daughter of Cletus (Pete) and Helen (McMullen) Yeckley. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers Paul and Dwaine (Dugg) Yeckley; and sister Gloria (Jim Kopera). Survived by her husband of 49 years, John B. Weakland “Jack,” and her children, John “Jackie,” married to Carianne Hogue, Johnstown; Joseph, married to Anita McCall, Northern Cambria; Jeffrey “Dink,” Hastings; Jay, married to Lynn Sherry, Patton; Jenele, married to Bern Whiteford, Hastings; Jeramie “Homer,” married to Melinda Nagle, Ohio; Joy, and her boyfriend, Sam Anna, Hastings; and Jamie “Buck,” married to Nikki Kishlock, Hastings; grandchildren, Cassy, Kate, Joey, Lakin, Corey, Christopher, Zachary, Gavin, Bernie, Caleb, Mackenzie, JJ, Ryan, Mason and Noah; her brother, Mike Yeckley (Joann Farabough), Ohio; sisters Alice Endler (Ted), Pittsburgh; and Jane Pavelko (Dan), Hastings. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she kept in contact with regularly and her loyal dog, Charlie, who was always by her side. Bonnie greatly enjoyed spending time with her loving children, grandchildren, her yearly trip to Rivers Casino, reading, and visiting with her best friend of 62 years, Martha Lansberry. She also took great pleasure from her time working with the elderly. Bonnie was a “people” person and liked to be kept informed about the “goings on” in their lives. She loved the Amish. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Rest in peace Bonnie. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings, Father Thaddeus E. Rettger officiating. Interment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery, Hastings. In lieu of flowers please make donations to a lung disease charity of your choice.
