Pegg, Irene, 91, Johnstown, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 26, 2014, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical. Born Nov. 13, 1922, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Valentine and Marie Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George E. Jr.; sisters, Julia Werba, Mary Johns, Bertha Nesmith and Margaret Turkovich; and a brother, Joseph Gabriel. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Davidheiser (Douglas), Gilbertsville; son, Gary Pegg Sr. (Judy), Johnstown; grandchildren, Gary Pegg Jr. (Melissa), Johnstown; Brian Pegg, Johnstown; and Lauren Davidheiser, Boyertown; and a great-grandson, Lennox Negron. Irene was a graduate of Johnstown High School, Class of 1940, where she was active member in planning reunions. She worked for Penn Traffic and National Radiator Co. during the wars as an inspector. A member of Grace Lutheran Church, she taught the teenage Sunday school class. She also attended Barron Avenue United Brethren Church. Also taught adult Sunday school class and headed the youth fellowship group of teenagers. Irene was a member of the Class of 40 ladies luncheon group. Enjoyed playing pinochle with club ladies, enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and vacationing with her family. She also served as the Cambria County Judge of Elections for 25 years. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Chandler Avenue, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, by Nancy Hoover.
