Hipp, Jeffrey W., 64, Daisytown, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014. Born Jan. 14, 1950, in Johnstown, son of the late Frederick and Helen (Gore) Hipp. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Shark, and brother-in-law, Ron Shark. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mildred C. (Gregorich) Hipp, whom he married March 12, 1977; a son, Jason E. Hipp, and wife, Emily, Newington, Conn.; a daughter, Nicole V. Hipp, and fiance, James R. Thomas, Johnstown; and grandchildren, Parker and Lillian Hipp, Newington, Conn. Jeff served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was stationed in Morocco, Africa, as a postal clerk. He worked at Penelec in the electrical equipment department from 1973 to 2006. Following his retirement, he worked part time for First Energy as an instructor for substation operating support training at the Richland Training Facility. Jeff enjoyed gardening, hunting, scuba diving and motorcycling. He had a knack for fabricating metals, many times making something out of nothing. Friends received from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, where funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., Nancy Hoover, officiating. Military honors by the VFW Menoher Post 155 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
