Beaver, Michael J., 60, Sidman, was taken unexpectedly Aug. 1, 2015. Born Oct. 3, 1954, in Troy, Ohio, son of Remy F. of York and the late Wilfrieda K. (Bellert) Beaver. Greatly missed by loving wife of 32 years, Diana J. (Crabtree) Beaver; children, Ashley M., married to Tripp Crilly, Sidman; Jason M., and fiancee, Heather Layton, South Fork; and Jordan M., Sidman; and siblings, Robert and Sue Beaver, Red Lion; Greg and Marianne Beaver, Pasadena, Md.; Gary and Barb Henricksen, Cape Coral, Fla.; Patty Beas, Johnstown; and Nancy Foley, Scottsdale, Ariz.; along with several nieces and nephews. Michael proudly served our nation in the U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group. During his time in the military, Michael was stationed in Alaska and Korea and awarded numerous medals, including Soldier of the Month multiple times. Michael was a true patriot and proud of our armed forces and continued to give back to local area veterans with the support of the community with the Wendy’s Frosty Key Tag program. Michael was a loyal and active participant of the Special Forces Association, where he could be seen at area cemeteries showing respect to fallen veterans. Michael started with Wendy’s International in 1978 as an assistant manager in Troy, Ohio, and worked his way up to become a franchise area director. Once learning the franchising end of the business, he purchased several Wendy’s restaurants in Pennsylvania in 1986. With hard work and dedication, he quickly turned that investment into a successful business spanning over several states. Michael enjoyed hiking with friends, riding his Harley and spending time on his farm. With all of Michael’s successes, his proudest legacy is his family. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, Pastor Gary Tustin, officiating. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers or cards, donations be made to Pennsylvania VFW, 4002 Fenton Ave., Harrisburg, Pa. 17109, in memory of Michael J Beaver. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., exclusive provider of “Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
