Foreback, Shirley P., 80, Jerome, passed away February 15, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 18, 1936, Windber, daughter of the late Boyd Akers, Sr. and Blanche Foor-Von Alt. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 ½ years, Louis F. Foreback; son, Dean Ray Foreback; sisters, Bernice Gaye, Avanel Gallagher, and Joann Akers; brothers, Boyd Akers, Jr. and Ronald Akers; and brother-in-law, Jackie Foreback. Survived by children, Randy Foreback and wife, Colleen, Windber; Ronald Foreback and wife, Linda, Spring Hill, FL; Susan Foreback; and Jeanette Foreback, both of Jerome; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law, Richard, Raymond, Robert, and Thomas Foreback. Shirley was a graduate of Johnstown High and was a 30-year member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Bible School. She was also a member of the Air Force Mothers Association and also helped out as a Cub Scout Leader. Shirley became a late fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, but enjoyed watching them with her daughters. She was very fond of her family, but held a special place in her heart for her brothers-in-law. She and Louis lived in many different locations throughout their marriage, from England and Germany to California to Pennsylvania. No matter where she was, she always endeavored to make it feel as much like a home as possible. Louis and Shirley’s favorite place to go was Taco Bell, where they just enjoyed the company of being together. You could also find Louis and Shirley every Friday afternoon at the food court in the Galleria, chatting with friends and socializing for hours. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Richland Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, whom Mom had come to love, for their great patience and excellent care for our Mother. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff at the ICU in Conemaugh Hospital for their compassion & understanding during our time of need. Friends will be received Saturday, March 4 from 11:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m., Emmanuel Baptist Church, 425 Luther Rd., Pastor Peter Nordlund, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that a donation to Emmanuel Baptist Church be made in her name. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
