Obituary

Fender, Larry Merle, 74, Johnstown, passed away September 12, 2021 at Windber Hospital. Born July 9, 1947. Son of the late Merle and Louise (Pollak) Fender. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon (Lewis) Fender. Survived by sister, Constance Fender and her spouse Judy Haigler; and his close friend, Amy Gallo and her husband Steve. Larry proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked at Sunnehanna Country Club and later retired from Westwood Floral. He was a very active volunteer at the Jackson Township Senior Center in Vinco. He greeted everyone at the door, called bingo and baked cakes and cookies to share with the other Seniors. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 4 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 246 Chandler Ave., Johnstown, PA 15906, face masks and social distancing required. Pastor Nancy Hoover will be officiating. Interment at Rose Mount Union Cemetery, Mineral Point Rd.
