Obituary
Anderson, Lawrence C., 91, Ebensburg, died May 6, 2013 at the Hollidaysburg VA Home. Born September 15, 1921 in Vintondale; son of the late Marshall J. and Olive V. (Rager) Anderson. Preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth Henderson (Johns) Anderson, brother, Russell Anderson and brother-in-law, Joseph Maderia.
Survived by daughter, Carol H. Lee and husband, David, Cresson;
grandson, Ralph Lee and wife, Wendy, Altoona;
granddaughter, Elizabeth Frederick and husband, Ben, Ebensburg;
great-grandchildren, Maddison and Makenna Lee, Damen, Lucas and Morgan Frederick; also, sister, Carrie Maderia, Oberland, OH; numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Frances Anderson, Amherst, OH.
Retired from United Mine Workers. WWII Army Veteran serving in the European Theatre, 80th Infantry Division, attaining a Silver Star, Purple Heart and a lot of other citations.
Lifetime member of VFW Post 4963, American Legion 238, and Moose Lodge 681. Member of 312 Blue Lodge, Jaffa Temple where he was the oldest member of the Provost Guard, United Mine Workers Local 1368 district 2, Cambria County Industrial Old-timers Baseball League. Special thank you to the Hollidaysburg VA Home’s nurses and aids and home nursing Hospice of Altoona. Friends received Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd., Nancy Hoover officiating. Committal Armaugh Cemetery with military ritual by VFW Menoher Post 155.
