Obituary

Novatny, Shawn Michael “Bub”, 47, of Myrtle Beach, SC, peacefully passed surrounded by his loving family on August 10, 2024, at Grand Strand Medical Center. Born October 17, 1976, in Massillon, OH, son of Joseph Jr. and Rose (Davich) Novatny. Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Nick and Sara Davich; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Emma Novatny; uncle, Nick Davich Jr.; and aunt, Carol Jenson. Survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Georgiana (Cunkelman); sons, Kai Mitchell and Miles Matthew; parents, Joseph Jr. and Rose; sister, Lindy Bakos; nieces and nephews, Jake and Emma Bakos and Christian, Rylie, and Addy Stewart; uncle, Rich Davich; and aunts, Gloria West and Carole “Tete” McAllister. Shawn was a graduate of Phoenix University with a Bachelors in IT. He was a free spirit who embraced living in the moment. He enjoyed having a good time and sharing good times with his friends and family. Shawn always found a way to make you smile and laugh, even when you didn’t want to. However, his greatest accomplishment and joy in life were his sons. Swimming in the ocean, surfing, finding shark teeth on the beach, snowboarding, archery, movies, and collecting football cards were just a few of the things he was able to share with them. He will be deeply missed by those in his life. A visitation will be held on August 15th from 4-6 P.M., with a service to follow at 6 P.M. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., Johnstown, PA 15902.
