Sheridan, Dorothy A., 78, Johnstown, previously of Crabtree, the oldest of three children, born February 25, 1939 to Martin and Stella (Plish) Dembowski. Dorothy passed peacefully at home in her sleep, surrounded by her family on March 13, 2017. She was gentle, giving, and selfless. She lived with strength and grace, and a boundless zest for life. Her kindness and compassion touched everyone she encountered. She was as accomplished artist, exhibiting in the 1982 World’s Fair. Her work was commissioned by First Lady Nancy Regan, and is collected by U.S. foreign ambassadors, galleries, and friends. She shared her gift, teaching healing arts. Her heartwarming dolls and fiber arts carried forward her family heritage from generations before her to inspire generations to come. Dorothy wished to be remembered as someone who “loved and was loved.” Preceded in death by sister-in-law, Sue (Beyer) Sheridan; and brothers-in-law, Jack Ashcom and Kevin Daley. Survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Patrick D.; children, Patrick J. Sheridan and wife, Lisa; Martin Sheridan; Marcene Glover and husband, Philip; grandchildren, Erin and Ryan Glover, Kimberly, Rachel, Justin, David, and Steven Sheridan; brother, William Dembowski and wife, Judith; sister, Patricia Schmer and husband, Paul “PJ”; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald Sheridan and wife, Patricia; Carol Ann Picklo and husband, Thad; Linda Crocco and husband, Lou; Mary Jane Ashcom; John Sheridan;  Daniel Sheridan and wife, Christine; Timothy Sheridan and wife, Mary Pat; Chris Sheridan and wife, Karen; David Sheridan and wife, Joanne; Kathleen Daley; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. At Dorothy’s request, there will only be a private family viewing. A memorial mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 22, at 10 a.m., St. Francis of Assisi Church, 120 Barron Ave., Johnstown, Fr. Anthony Francis Spika, OFMConv., officiating. In lieu of flowers, hug a loved one.
