Marshall, Gerard H. “Herb”, 85, Johnstown, died April 14, 2017 at his home. Born July 2, 1931 to the late Herbert Paul and Marie Elizabeth (Tenant) Marshall. Preceded in death by companion of 40 years, Ella Joyce Shaffer; granddaughter, Stacy Tavalsky; great granddaughter, Gracey Paolilo; and son-in-law, Dennis Jeschonek. Survived by children, Richard C. Marshall, (Rhonda); Donna Cooper, (Nick); Christine Davis, (Robert); Mary “Beth” Jeschonek; Stephen Marshall, (Cathy); Michael Marshall, (Sherri); sister, Mary Rose Shaffer, (Terry); grandchildren, Rickey, Rhianna, Rachelle, and Ryan Marshall; Michael Moses; Nicholas Cooper; Bob Davis; Minde Yorchak; Stef Davis; Jeremy Clites; Alissa Reed; Brandon Wentz; Michael, Bryan, and Brett Marshall; 13 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; nephew, John Forte; niece, Theresa Shaffer; the Shaffer family, Gary, Terry, Todd, Timmy, Danna and their families. Herb was employed and retired from Bethlehem Steel. He enjoyed golfing, watching old movies, and going to the casino. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Herb’s legacy that he leaves to his family is “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra. Herb’s family would like to send a special thank you to AseraCare Hospice and Herb’s care givers, Sue and Pam for all the love, support, and extra care they gave him. Friends will be received Mon. April 17 from 4-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tues. at St. Benedict Church. Father Brian Warchola, officiating.
