Obituary

Gottwald, Donald L., 79, Belmont, formerly of Woodvale, died January 23, 2010 at home. Born August 23, 1930 in Johnstown, son of the late William and Wally Gottwald. Preceded in death by infant sister, Caroline; sister Dorothy and brother Bill.

Survived by wife, June; sons John, Reading and Jeff and wife Davia, Michigan and daughter Jennifer, Belmont. Also survived by sister Nancy, Davidsville, grandchildren Brennen; Zane; Alyssa; Wyatt and Ian and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He enjoyed family, hunting, fishing and western movies. He was also an avid birdwatcher. Donald served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and retired from US Steel with 34 years of service.

Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Tuesday at the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave, where service will be held at 10 am Wednesday. Fr. David Peles, officiating. Interment, St Joseph Cemetery. Graveside military rites by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corp League, Detachment 287.
