Obituary

Edward J. Speidel, 86, of Robinson, formerly of Bolivar, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 25, 1928, in North Versailles Township, he was a son of the late William D. Speidel Sr. and Martha M. (Jones) Speidel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. (Mungall) Speidel; and sister, Dorothy L. McFerron. He is survived by his daughter, Darlene L. (James) Gregorich, and son, John E. (Heidi) Speidel, both of Bolivar; grandchildren, Derra L. (Stacey) Banks, of Dumfries, Va.; Jamean E. (Jamie) Gregorich, Robinson; and Audrianne M. Speidel, of Bolivar; great-grandsons, Bayden J., Austyn D. and Candyn W. Gregorich, Koldin E. and Kenai B. Banks; and brother, William D. Speidel Jr. (Flo), of Elizabeth. He owned and operated Edward J. Speidel from 1966 to 1985, retiring in 1985. He was in the Army, serving in Korea during World War II. He was a member of Bolivar United Presbyterian Church, a former member of Bolivar Volunteer Fire Company, where he was fire chief for 22 years and Westmoreland County Fire Chiefs & Firemen’s Association and a lifetime member of the East McKeesport Lodge No. 765 F&AM, American Legion Post 128 and VFW Post 9310. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the KENNETH A. STUART FUNERAL HOME, New Florence. Additional viewing will be held 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Bolivar United Presbyterian Church9:45 to 10:45 a.m., where service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ruth Moore and Pastor James Sunseri officiating. Committal will be in Westview Cemetery, Bolivar.
