Obituary

Lipnic, Janet (Thomas), 81, of Ebensburg passed away Wednesday, January 21st at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Born May 16, 1933, the daughter of William R. Thomas, Jr. and Mary (Gresco) Thomas she grew up in Hastings, PA. A loving wife and mother she was married for 49 years to Edwin J. Lipnic, Jr., a teacher and the mayor of Carrolltown, PA for 25 years. Survived by her son, Edwin J. Lipnic, III and daughter-in-law Jane (Ewanek) Lipnic of Ebensburg and grandchildren Marshal M. Lipnic and Olivia V. Lipnic and daughter Victoria A. Lipnic of Arlington, Virginia. She was the fourth of four sisters: B. Jeanne Farr (deceased), Mary Lou Endler of Northern Cambria, Lois Huether (deceased) and one brother, William R. Thomas, III (married to Connie Lubert) of Hastings. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews: John and Mary Lou Farr, Tom Farr; Debbie (Endler) and Tim Schroeder, Tom and Myra Endler, Marilyn (Endler) and Jeff Lantzy, Susan Endler; Lois Jeanne Huether; Bill, Holly and Maureen Thomas. She began her career working as a secretary at a bakery in Akron, Ohio, worked at the Hastings Bank for many years, the Ebensburg Floral Shop and Fishers Big Wheel in Carrolltown, PA. She enjoyed her family, sewing, gardening, antiquing, all of the family pets, and her many dear friends throughout her life. Visitation will be held Friday 4 to 8pm at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home 333 Beaver Street, Hastings, PA 16646. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11am at the United Methodist Church, 162 4th Ave. Hastings, PA 16646s. Pastor Adam Dotts Officiating. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Mission Church Cemetery, West Carroll Twp, PA.
