Obituary

Darby, Catherine Louise (Magdelinic), 59, died Nov. 20, 2015 at Conemaugh Regional Hospice. Born Sept. 12, 1956 in Johnstown, daughter of Steve L. and Marjorie K. (Daugherty) Magdelinic. Preceded in death by her father. Survived by her mother; husband of 35 years, Ray; brother, Steve, Las Vegas, NV; step-mother, Jeannie, Davidsville; nephew, Stephen, Las Vegas, NV; niece, Shannon, Everett, WA; step-daughter, Amy Beth Darby; three grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sue Ann and husband Joseph Matolyak; brother-in-laws, Robert and wife Mary; Jim and wife Shirley; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cathy and Ray were always together and loved sports, especially baseball and football. She and Ray were former owners of the Golf Haven. Cathy and her brother Steve had a very special bond and loved each other unconditionally. Cathy enjoyed every minute of her life and no matter what happened she always had a positive attitude and with her strong will, felt she could beat anything and usually did. She was blessed with many friends and loved working the concession stands at the War Memorial when events were held. She was a 1974 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. She worked at the former US National Bank for over 20 years and also worked at FNB Financial in Somerset until her retirement. At Cathy’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church where friends are invited to meet and celebrate Cathy’s life at a memorial service being held Tues. Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Conemaugh Regional Hospice or American Diabetes Association.
