Obituary

Heben, John J., 65, of Johnstown, died January 30, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Born December 26, 1950, in Johnstown; he was a son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Shewchyk) Heben. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Heben; sons, Joseph Heben, Pitman, NJ, Andrew Heben; step daughter, Arlene N. Owens and husband Troy, step son, Bruce Schuyler all of Johnstown; three grandchildren, Haleigh and Lucas Owens, Vinnie Schuyler; a great grandson, Mason Young; a brother, Larry Heben, VA, sisters, Debbie Miller and husband Rick, Blairsville, Tina Wasnick and husband John, Derry; and several nieces and nephews. John worked for the Postal Service in the Johnstown area for many years. He retired in 2010 from the Hollsopple Post Office where he was the Post Master.  He served in the US Army. He was a member of the Woodvale Athletic Club, where he served as treasurer. Friends received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd. where a service will follow at 7 p.m., Wayne Ayer, Celebration of Life Director, officiating. Burial will be private at Bethel Cemetery, Clyde, PA.  Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.”
