Obituary

Bock, David D., 89, died March 28, 2017, surrounded by family at Laurel View Village in Davidsville. Formerly a resident of Ferndale Borough. Born October 25, 1927 in Johnstown, son of Karl M. and Olive (Orner) Bock. Preceded in death by parents, brother Karl M. Bock Jr., brother Roger E. Bock, and sister Joyce Miller. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances “Frankie” (Horner) Bock and their six children: Leslie Bock (David Joyce) of Dunedin, FL; Kimberley Meador (Thomas Meador) of Lake Forest, IL; David D. Bock Jr., of Ardmore, PA; Kristine Bock of St. Davids, PA; Dr. B. Thomas Bock (Michelle) of Collegeville, PA; and Roger Bock (Denise) of Johnstown. A devoted husband and father, he was also “Pop-Pop” to 14 beloved grandchildren, three great grand-daughters, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was a graduate of Dale High School (1945), attended UPJ, and was the owner of David D. Bock Insurance & Real Estate in Johnstown. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a life member of Masonic Lodge #538, and a former council member at First Lutheran Church. Dave enjoyed golfing at Sunnehanna Country Club for 48 years, Canadian fishing trips with his friends and sons, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. A private celebration of a life well-lived will be held at the convenience of the family. Those who wish may make donations in Dave’s memory to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963.
