Obituary
Warner, Kenneth W., 83, Johnstown, passed away November 27, 2023, at Windber Woods. Born July 8, 1940, to the late Paul A. and Helen “Flo” (Sinkovich) Warner. Survived by brother, Timothy Warner. Ken played football and graduated from Johnstown Catholic High School. He lived in Philadelphia for a couple years before joining the Army. Ken served in the Intelligence Unit in Germany during the mid 60’s, where he monitored Russian movement during the Cold War. After serving in the Army, Ken joined his brother at Moorehead State College, MN, where he graduated with a B.S. degree in English. Ken married Margo Larson and resided in San Franciso, where they had two sons, Christopher and Dylan. Ken later returned to MN where he taught English and Humanity classes for 30 successful years. It has been said he was greatly loved and respected by his students. He was a fine creative writer and accomplished artist and photographer. Ken was an avid reader who read everything he could get his hands on. He toured Europe many times, first while in the Army and later with his students during the summer. His final trip was to Greece. Ken also loved NYC’s cultural museums and the theatre. He was a true sports fan. His first love was Notre Dame football followed by the Pirates, Twins, Steelers, Vikings, Pitt, and Penn State. Ken attended hundreds of AAABA league games as well as the tournament. Ken was a great guy to a pal around with and was fun to talk with on any subject. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was happy to have spent his final 20 years in Johnstown. At Ken’s request there will be no services.
