Obituary

Joan M. “Joanie” Steele, 82, of Johnstown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 5, 2024. Born June 18, 1941, in Johnstown; daughter of the late Wallace and Anne (Kawa) Gregorchik. Preceded in death by her husband, William L. Steele Jr., in 2021. Survived by children, Misty Hofmeister (Jon) of Telford, PA, Stacy Spang (Bryan) of Boalsburg, PA, Tom Toth of Germany and Todd Toth and late wife Melissa of Johnstown; grandchildren, Christian Hofmeister (Ashley), Stefan Hofmeister, Hannah Joan Hofmeister, Alyssa Bossi (Lorenzo), Paul Spang, Allison Toth (Jesse), Caroline Spang, Brandon Toth, Jessica Toth, Jenna Wilson (Kevin) and Jacob Toth; four beloved great grandchildren, Auri, Stefano, Cooper, and Piper; sister, Alice Mickel (Fred); brothers, James Gregorchik (Marie), Bud Gregorchik (Toni), and David Gregorchik (Gretchen). Joanie loved the beach, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by them all. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in State College. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Hindman Funeral Homes, 1521 Frankstown Rd., Johnstown, Pastor Bryan Spang officiating.
