Obituary

Goas, Mary A. (Rosenbaum), 90, died March 24, 2024, at McCullough Place. Born June 9, 1933, in Johnstown, daughter of Bert and Ida (Kloss) Rosenbaum. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Albert, Paul, and Philip; sisters, Katleen Rager; Anna Miller; Mildred Gore; Amelda Penrod; Elizabeth Yarina; Barbara Angelo; infant son, Robert Francis Goas; and daughter-in-law, Michelle (Pahl) Goas. Mary was the last surviving member of her family. Survived by husband of 73 years, Robert F. Goas Jr.; children, Mary A. Kirkpatrick, Florida; Julia A. married to Dr. Brian Melnick, Pittsburgh; Patrick J., Johnstown; John married to the former Michele Pagano, Johnstown; Robert S., Somerset; Elizabeth M. married to Stephen Sites, Maryland; Anita M. married to David Diesen, Arizona; Joseph F. married to the former Jerri Anselmo, Exeter, PA; and Thomas A. married to the former Allison Byram, Florida; grandchildren, Timothy, Peter, Luke, Laura, Susan, Lisa Emily, Alicia, Griffith, Robert, Joseph, Alexandria, Hannah, Matthew, Angela, Karlina, Jacob, Thomas, Leah; and many great grandchildren. Family would like to thank the staff at McCullough Place for their compassionate care. Mary retired from GJAVTS. She was a talented artist and after retirement she taught art classes at Windber Senior Center. She was a member of Benedictine Oblate of St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, St. Joseph’s Choir, St. Benedict Catholic Church, and St. Anthony of Padua Church of Windber. A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. March 28th at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Father David Peles, officiating. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
