Obituary

Smith, Rita M., 94, Hastings, died May 15, 2024, at UPMC Altoona Hospital, after a short illness.  Born February 10, 1930, in Hastings, daughter of the late Anthony W. and Agnes (Endler) Dumm.  Preceded in death by a brother (Donald), husband (William H. Smith Sr.), sister (Bernice) and son (Robert Allen Smith.  Survived by children, Karen, married to James Adamik, Indio, CA; Linda S. Smith, Atlanta, GA; Bryan Smith, Hastings and William H. Jr., Altoona; grandchildren, Trevor Allen Smith; Sarah Elizabeth Smith Sennett; Colin John Adamik,  Katherine Ann Adamik Jackson, and Elizabeth Adamik; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Sennett, Zoey Sennett and Eve Jackson. A graduate of Hastings High School’s Class of 1948, Rita, was a dedicated wife and loving mother. She was employed at the L. S. & J. Sussman shirt factory and became a licensed real estate agent. Rita loved spending time with all her children attending their musical performances. She especially enjoyed the time she had with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing with her children’s pets, cooking, flower gardening, and the outdoors sitting on her back yard swing in the evenings. Family and friends will be received Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., Easly-Hindman Funeral Home, 333 Beaver St., Hastings, PA 16646. Services will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11 a.m., St. Bernard Catholic Church, Fr. Thaddeus Rettger O.S.B., officiating. Viewing one hour prior at the church. Burial at St. Bernard Cemetery.
