Obituary
Paonessa, Samuel A., 69, Davidsville, formerly of Roxbury, passed away suddenly on June 25, 2024. Born April 25, 1955, to the late Samuel and Rita (Ragno) Paonessa Sr. Survived by twin daughters, Nicole Paonessa (Dennis Richardville); Jennifer Paonessa; grandchildren, Mia and Chase Richardville; sister, Catherine Paonessa-Tuite (Michael); and wife, Anne (Sutt) Paonessa. Sam graduated from Vo-Tech school in 1973. He then lived in Florida for a few years, worked in BMY in York, PA, and then moved back to Johnstown where he worked at Toma Metals until retiring. In 2012, Sam became the proud owner/operator of Slammin Sam’s. He gave back to his community in many ways, including organizing bike runs for charity causes, keeping the bar open on holidays, cooking a warm meal making sure all were welcome. He was a member of the PNA in Moxham and VFW 4200. Sam loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking, riding his Harley, and golfing. He also had a passion for football, especially the Steelers and college football. Sam lit up a room no matter where he went. A celebration of life will be held at Slammin Sam’s on Saturday July 6th, starting at 4 p.m. As Sam would say, “I’ll keep the light on for ya.” Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc.
