Obituary
James, Betty Lou, 84, East Taylor Township, passed away August 13, 2024, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born November 3, 1939, to the late Lewis and Grace (Yeager) Miller. Preceded in death by, brother, Wayne Miller, sister-in-law, Florence Rose and brother-in-law, Ronald Gianakos. Survived by loving husband Lewis; beloved children, Randy and wife Cynthia (Sweeney); Rollie and wife Sherry (Mackell); Darla and husband John Poloyac; Carrie and husband Ryan Young; grandchildren, Wade James (Tabitha); Lindsey Corcetti (Mike); Shawn James (Chrystal); Chad James (Shawna); Nathan James (fiancé Nicolette); Johnny Poloyac (Melissa); Alyssa Terchanik (Christian); Mitchell Poloyac (Brittany); Bailee, Reagan and Bryce Bair (Savanna Popma); great grandchildren, Addison, Liv, Taven, Jet, Silas, Louden, Axel, Austin, Ella Mae, Ivy Ann, Jay, Jaxson, Abigail, Thomas John, and Nolan; sister, Beverly Gianakos; sister-in-law, Janie Miller; brother-in-law, Don Rose; niece, Tanya Lauer (Joe) Cameron and Carsen; and numerous nieces and nephews. For 40 years, Betty Lou ran the family business, James Excavating, as the secretary. She was an active member at West Hills Community Church and also served in various ministry positions over the years including deaconess, church cook and youth volleyball coach. After Betty Lou graduated high school, she served with BVS Ministry in Texas. She had a talent for hospitality, always welcoming family and friends into her home and having an endless supply of cookies and peanut butter crackers for them to enjoy. Betty Lou loved to cook and enjoyed shopping. She began a yearly beach trip tradition (starting in tents) with the entire family that continues today. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Family will receive friends Sunday August 18th from 2-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Pastor Dave Streets, officiating. Committal to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty Lou’s name to West Hills Community Church, 175 Woodmont Rd., Johnstown, PA 15905.
