Obituary

Schellhammer, Carmen Joanne “Meema”, 87, of Johnstown, passed away on August 15, 2024. Born July 10, 1937, daughter of the late William and Helen (Krieger) Lauf. Preceded in death by brother, William Lauf of Altoona, PA. Survived by children, Fred O. (Grace Mastalli), of Wilmington, NC, Melanie (Paul Daniel) Kormanik, of Johnstown, PA, and Paul (Elizabeth Farber), of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Bloom, of Pittsburgh, PA, Ali Kormanik, of Johnstown, PA, Tyler (Leah) Schellhammer, of Carson City, NV, and Lee Schellhammer, USN; step-grandchildren, Lucas ‘Luke’ Mastalli-Kelly (Grace Mastalli-Luthor), of New Haven, CT, and Cameron Caynor, of Charlottesville, VA; great-grandchildren, Jacob Bloom, Madelyn Bloom, Bennett Bloom, and Chase Schellhammer; sister-in-law, Kathleen Jacobs, of Altoona, PA; and loving life partner, Frank Rovder. Carmen was a 1955 graduate of Johnstown High School and a member of the JHS Alumni Association. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star – Anna L. Windoff Chapter and the Allegheny Mt. Cedarettes. Carmen was also a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held on September 28th at 9 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd., Johnstown, PA 15902. Services will be followed by a procession to Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1640, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
