Obituary

Oleksa, Helen C.,95, Johnstown, passed away December 10, 2024, at Heritage Ridge surrounded by her family. Born April 15, 1929, to the late Michael and Eva (Zema) Cushman. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Stephen Oleksa; son in-laws, Andrew C. Puniak and Dennis Flowers; brother, Raymond Cushman; and stepsister, Mary Riley. Helen is survived by daughters, Stephany A. Oleksa-Puniak and Vanessa M Flowers; son, Larry M. Oleksa (wife, Karen); grandchildren, Brad Flowers (Jennifer), Renee Lee (Ron), Scott Flowers (Andrea), Leann Luther (Al), Nicole Esposito (Pat), Stephen Oleksa (Tara), Lauren Sombronski (Kevin); sister in-law, Theresa Cushman; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Helen was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. She was also attended St. Michael’s Church in Brownstown, where she was always found in the front pew. She was a lifetime member of Brownstown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Brownstown Bowling League. Helen was involved in many Brownstown Community events. Most of all, Helen was a devoted mother, loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them. Some of her favorite pastimes were sitting on the porch and going for rides. Helen was loved by all and will be sadly missed. Family will receive friends Sunday, December 15^th from 2pm to 8pm at Hindman Funeral Homes, 146 Chandler Ave., Johnstown, PA 15906. A funeral mass will be held Monday, December 16^th at 10am at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, 217 4^th St., Conemaugh, PA 15909, with Reverend Robert Oravetz officiating.
