Obituary

June V. (Edmiston) Mitchell, 91, Johnstown, died January 10, 2025, at Arbutus Park Retirement Community. Born February 13, 1933, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Mary Brehm, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, the late William and Florence Edmiston. Preceded in death by husband, Walter F. Mitchell, Sr., to whom she had been married for 54 years; grandson, Garrett Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Dawn (King); sisters, Janet Blough and Donna Witkovskie; and brothers, Forrest, Kenneth, David, and Larry Brehm. She was the oldest and last surviving of her family. Survived by children, Virginia A., wife of Charles E. Groff, Sr., Markleton, PA, and Walter F., Jr. married to the former Tina Traficante, Everett, PA. Grandchildren, Charles Groff, Jr., and wife, Laura, Confluence, PA, Kristen Groff, Columbus, OH, Holly Bennett and husband, Brian, Kalispell, MT, Amanda Mitchell, Grove City, PA, Samantha Mitchell, Pittsburgh, PA, and Nathan Mitchell and wife, Rachael, Shippensburg, PA. Great-grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, and Aron of Confluence, PA, Karley and Parker of Columbus, OH, Rost of Kalispell, MT, and Luca, Grove City, PA. Also survived by sister-in-law, Laura Brehm, and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
