Obituary

Gerard “Jerry” Wicks, 69, passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2025. Born November 26, 1955, and was a lifelong resident of Johnstown, PA.  Preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Agnes M. Wicks; spouse, Veronica; son, Mark Wicks; and infant sisters, Pamela and Dianne. Survived by Lucy Wicks, wife of 37 years; siblings, Robert Wicks (Cheryl Rively), Kathleen Moss (Gerald), and Sharon “Dodie” Wicks; children, Lisa Wirfel (Travis) and Josh Wicks (Megan); grandchildren, Bella, Daphne, and Wyatt Wicks and Julie and Carly Wirfel. Graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator and truck driver for PennDot. He was a hardworking and loving man full of character and faith. He loved spending time with his family and farming the land he worked years to acquire. Nothing made him prouder than seeing his grandchildren ride horses together. Jerry was a member of the Mountain View Tractor Club, Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Klassic Kountry, and was the former president of the Silver Shoe Rodeo Club. He was the tractor superintendent for the American Legion County Fair and was a square dance caller. Jerry will be missed by his family and friends while he spends “another day in paradise.” Family will receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Hindman Funeral Homes, Frankstown Rd., from 2-4 and 6-8. There will be a memorial service held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11 at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren.
