Obituary
Gerald E. Dusack “Jerry,” 83 of Dunlo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on February 21, 2025. Born on April 9, 1941, to the late Steve and Arbutus (Warner) Dusack. Preceded in death by siblings, James, and Nancy as well as grandsons, Gabriel, and Andrew. Survived by wife of 57 years, Anna (Smith) as well as his sister, Susan. Jerry is also survived by his children, Mary (DeRue) O’loughlin, Jeff Dusack, Kathleen (Joe) Dusack, Diane (Chris) Kurchak, and John (Sandy) Dusack. Pappy’s pride included eleven grandchildren: Danielle, Alan, Shawn, Jessica (Dan), Sorelle, Jenna, Kyle, Gabriel, Cassidy, Riley, and Alley, as well as two great-grandchildren Adam and Spencer. Some of Jerry’s favorite pastimes were hunting with his beloved beagle “Lady,” fishing, gardening, birdwatching, golfing, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Jerry was a proud veteran of the U.S. army who served in South Korea and fulfilled two terms protecting our country.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Rashid Awan and nurse Emily from the Hillman Cancer Center as well as Robert Chippie, CRNP from Windber Palliative, Kelli Manippo, CRNP from the local VA, Dr Kelly Warshel and Abigail Evan, RN from Windber Hospice for the special care provided to Jerry over the last few years.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 @ 10:00 at the Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road, Johnstown, with Pastor Jim Gay officiating. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Windber Hospice in his honor.
