Obituary

Branic, Bernard J. “Ben”, 93, Johnstown, passed away peacefully September 4, 2026, at his home. Born September 20, 1932, to the late Andrew and Julia (Stroker) Branic. Preceded in death by wife of 55 years, Martha Branic; siblings, Paul; Cecilia; Francis; Margaret; James; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Survived by loving daughter, Debbie Mendillo (Jim); grandsons, Christopher Mendillo (Kim); Michael Mendillo (Michael Alberici); Matthew Mendillo (Rebekah); great-grandson, Grant Mendillo; brother-in-law, Joe Cignetti; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ben was a graduate of Penn State and St. Francis University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Bethlehem Steel from the Industrial Engineering Department. Ben enjoyed golfing, fishing, skiing, and riding his bicycle. In more recent years, Ben found great enjoyment in going to the mall, where he would either walk or sit and talk with people, sometimes for hours. He had a love for music and a great sense of humor. Ben was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where family will receive friends Saturday September 19^th from 9 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helping Hands Ministry at St. Benedict Church, 2310 Bedford St., Johnstown, PA 15904. As Ben would say, “Don’t be sad for me. Be happy and sing in the shower”
