Obituary
Allen, Howard M. “Howie”, 53, Westmont, died August 31, 2013. Born August 9, 1960 in Munich, Germany, son of the late Merrill and Judith C. (Cleveland) Allen. Preceded in death by brother, George Blake “GB” Allen. Survived by sons, David; Sean and Kevin, grandchildren, Seven; Hudson and Eliza, sister, Priscilla (Allen) Scott, brother, Milton “Skipper” Allen and ex-wife, Caryn Herman. Howie was a mason in Deer Isle, Maine. Howard or Howie as most referred to him, left home on the island of Stonington Maine to start his adult life and found himself in Bedford, NY
He was one of the kindest, most loving, caring and helpful men anyone could meet. Howard was a volunteer Fire Fighter and underwater rescue scuba dive-person. He was very passionate about helping people and always stopped to help those in need. He moved to Pennsylvania and married his first love and became a father to her son. They soon had 2 sons of their own and was a wonderful loving father and husband. Always a smile and a twinkle in his caring eyes. Howie loved water skiing, snow skiing, riding his motorcycle and Golf. A man of many talents and abilities. Howie was the proud owner of Howie Does It, general contracting & repair service. Howie loved his work, and the people that he met through his work, and it showed. Howie was an “old school” handyman, and there really wasn’t much he couldn’t build or repair.
When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed golf, bowling, playing bocce, rooting for his second favorite NFL team, the Steelers, and more than anything, hanging out with his family of friends in Johnstown. By whom he will be missed.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Friends will be received from 4:30pm until time of service at 6:30pm Saturday at the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd, Johnstown. Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
