Obituary

Gelles, Andrew Sr. 85 Conemaugh died September 25, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 22, 1923 in Johnstown. Son of the late Michael and Mary (Ozimok) Gelles.

Preceded in death by wife Betty (Robb) Gelles and 5 Brothers. Survived by special companion Irene Galayda and these children; Gregory married to Sundya of Missouri, David and companion Arlene of Windber, Barry Robb of Johnstown, Andrew married to Bonnie of Johnstown, Ronald married to Mary Lou of Johnstown, Richard married to Tammy of Windber , Patricia married to Fred Hicks of Johnstown, Barbara married to William Smith of Johnstown, Susan married to Robert Ross of Conemaugh, and Suzette Gelles and companion Mary Belle Ruiz of Harrisburg. Also survived by 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and brother Alex and sisters Annie and Mary.

Member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Conemaugh Legion, American Carpatho Citizens Club, and the brick layers union. Andy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an Army Veteran of WWII and a retired bricklayer for US Steel.
