Obituary
MILLER – Carl Brandt, 75, Upper Yoder Twp., died January 25, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 16, 1936 in Grantham, PA; son of the late Earl D. and Christine (Brandt) Miller. Preceded in death by brother, Ray Miller.
Survived by loving wife, Nancy (Scrudders) Miller, and sons; Brant Carl Miller, Johnstown; and Craig Stewart Miller, and wife, Sonia, Murrysville; also grandchildren, Quinton, Hailey, Shea and Mackinley Miller; and sister, Jeanne Hostetler, Harrisburg.
Carl retired as the music instructor from Johnstown High School after 31 years where he developed award winning choirs and directed 24 musicals. In addition, he directed the Johnstown Symphony Chorale, was a professional bassist with the Johnstown Symphony and in various groups, and founded the jazz singing group Vocal Express. Carl was also the music director at Beulah United Methodist Church and at Trinity Lutheran Church.
After retiring from Johnstown High in 1991 he became the music director of Westmont Presbyterian Church and part-time choral director at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
Friends received 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Westmont Presbyterian Church, The Rev.
