Obituary
Rose, Eugene Carl, 68, Harrisburg, formerly of Johnstown, died January 20, 2014 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born July 15, 1945 in Johnstown, son of Orrie L. and Mabel L. (Bush) Rose. Preceded in death by father; son, David E. Rose and brother-in-law, James E. McKendree. Survived by sons, Scott and Benn; sister, Lois McKendree and numerous grandchildren. Eugene was a former member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. He was a conscientious objector, having served in the Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS), was an avid Studebaker fan and belonged to the Studebaker Club, had an exceptional talent for playing the piano without sheet music and would play the piano for various nursing homes. He had a sense of humor beyond anyone and donated his corneas for research. He was a clerk for the PA Department of Labor. Family will receive friends from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. Interment will be held at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Blind Association or the Pleasant Hill Church Building Fund.
