Obituary
Pearson George G. Jr., 85, Johnstown, died May 7, 2012. Born Aug. 1, 1926, in Ridgway, son of George G. Pearson Sr. and Zepha (Eisenhuth) Pearson. Resided in Ridgway until 1959. Married Pearl A. (Yonker) at St. Benedict’s Church in Daguscahonda on May 24, 1948. Death end a marriage union of almost 64 years. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother; and sisters, Delores Pearson, Helen Kamprath and Violet Glaus. Survived by wife, and children, George (Craig), married to Susan Lutz, Kent, Wash.; Kim E., married to Tammy O’Hara, Chambersburg; and Krista M., married to R. Paul Miller, Johnstown. Also survived by nine grandchildren, Eric (Kristina), Brian (Jenni) and Kevin Pearson; Tammy Smith (Brodie); Michelle (Joe) Casey; Rebecca (Matt) Burgdorff; and Tim (Jennifer), Dan (Danielle) and Todd (Kimmie) Miller, and 13 great-grandchildren. George was employed by Elk County General Hospital in Ridgway from 1949 to 1953. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army from 1944 to 1946. He was a full-time federal employee for the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1953 until the time of his retirement in 1983, serving as a first sergeant with HQ876th Engineers in Johnstown for 15 years. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion, 876th Engineer Retirees and a volunteer for Senior Citizen Meals on Wheels. Friends received from 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 1521 Frankstown Road, the Rev. Brian Armen, officiating. Committal, Forest Lawn Cemetery with military rites by VFW Menoher Post 155 Ritual Team.
