Obituary

SHAFFER – Gladys R. (Havener) Shaffer, 84, formerly of Johnstown, PA. Passed away July 9th in New Germany, PA. She was born July 21, 1924 in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of the late Harry and Dillie Havener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Shaffer, in 1975; sister Ethel Daniels; and special friend Raymond Lingenfelter. Gladys is survived by her loving family, son Robert W. Shaffer & wife Diana of Meadeville, PA; daughters Judith A. Berkley & husband Raymond of Portland, CT; Beverly J. Blanchetti & husband Don of New Germany; son Philip C. Shaffer and wife Patty of Portage, PA; daughter Edith M. Downs and husband Robert of Aston, PA; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sister Anna Louis Shaulis of Glen Rock, PA; and an number of nieces and nephews. Gladys was a member of Senior Life, Democratic Committeewoman, and Hospital Volunteer. At request of Gladys, there will be a private memorial service and no viewing. The Shaffer family respectfully requests no flowers be sent. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Gladys.
