Obituary

Shaffer, James J. Sr., 68, Johnstown, died October 10, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Born January 5, 1941 in Johnstown, son of the late William “Peck” and Ellen (OConner) Shaffer. Survived by loving wife of 48 years, the former Arlene M. Kaufman, Johnstown; daughter Laura Ritenour, Johnstown; son James J. Jr., Harrisburg and grandson Brandon Ritenour, Scottdale, PA.

James worked for Sani-Dairy, was a member of the Oakland VFD and the Dale VFD. He loved hunting, fishing, trains, woodworking, working on cars and gardening. He will be sadly missed by his best friend, Don “Oscar” Evans; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dog, “Precious Pup”.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday October 31, 2009 at Oakland United Methodist Church, Bedford Street, Rev.
