Obituary
Schellhammer, James “Hogan”, 85, Johnstown, died February 22, 2014 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born October 27, 1928 in Johnstown, son of the late James V. and Geraldine (McGuire) Schellhammer. Preceded in death by son, James Michael Schellhammer. Survived by wife of 60 years, Ruth L. (Irvin) Schellhammer; daughter-in-law, Denise (Thompson) Schellhammer; granddaughters, Kristy Lynn Schellhammer and Laura Jean Robinson; great-grandchildren, Teaghan Rose Riggie and Avery Lynn Robinson and these brothers and sisters, Donald; Ardythe; Marlene; Glenn; Robert; Eleanor; Eilene; Donna; Frank and Richard. James was a father figure to many young folks, including Mary Horner and her siblings. He was a mechanic for the Cambria County Transit Authority, a member of the Lower Yoder Fire Company, the Cambria County Firemens Association and the Morrellville Church of the Brethren. James was a US Army Veteran. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Friends are invited to a memorial service at 11am Saturday at the Cover Hill Fire Hall. Pastor John Manges, officiating. Interment will be held privately at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the family. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 155 Ritual Team.
