GEHLMAN – Joseph R. “Boomer”, 81, Johnstown died June 14, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 1, 1928 in Johnstown, son of the late Joseph and Marion (Vanhorn) Gehlman. Preceded in death by daughter JoAnne Karen Gehlman. Survived by wife, the former Dorothy Bodnar, to whom he was married 60 years and these sons; Keith L. and wife Margy, Johnstown; Larry A. and wife Deborah, Johnstown; Joseph R. Jr., Sidman and David S. and wife Marilyn, Johnstown. Also survived by grandchildren Charles, Florida and Benjamin, Windber and great-grandchildren Dustine, Luke, Nick, Cameron, Elaina and Corey. Joseph retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp., was the president of Berkley Hills Mens Club, member of the Brownstown Golf Assoc., representative for the Greater Johnstown Golf Assoc. and the Retired Mens Club. He was an avid golfer at Berkley Hills Golf Course. Joseph was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Friends received from 2 to 8pm Wednesday at the Hindman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 146 Chandler Ave. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Thursday at Visitation of the BVM Catholic Church, Fr. Barry J. Baroni, officiating. Inurnment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pallative Care Unit at Memorial Medical Center, 1086 Franklin St. Johnstown PA 15905.
