Obituary

Smith, Luke, 84, Mundys Corner, died March 21, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 14, 1927 in Dunlo; son of the late James S. and Maggie (Gilles) Smith.

Preceded in death by brother, Donald Vandemergel, infant sister, Charlotte Smith and sister, Mary Custer.

Survived by wife of 58 years, Helen Louise (Cunningham) Smith; daughter, Patricia Ann Eppley, Johnstown; son, Thomas G. Smith and wife, Wendy (Burns), York; brother, James Smith and sister, Naomi Smith-Ondriezk, both of Nanty Glo; grandsons, Ryan Smith, York and Brandon Baker, Colver.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Luke worked 35 years as a Chipper for U.S. Steel Corp. and was a shortage runner for The Tribune Democrat for 20 years.

Friends received Saturday 1 p.m. until time of memorial service at 3 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 1521 Frankstown Rd. “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.”
