Obituary

VEIGH – Mercedes I., “Sue”, 77, Johnstown, died August 11, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 25, 1933 in Johnstown; daughter of the late George Sandor and Irene (Bock) Veigh. Preceded in death by brother, George Sandor Veigh Jr. and sister, Gretchen Ester Veigh.

Survived by brothers, Daniel Bock Veigh and William Frederick Veigh, both of Johnstown. Also, cousins, Tom and John Casker.

Graduate of Elizabethtown College, with a Bachelors of Professional Studies.

She taught courses at Elizabethtown College, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Mount Aloysius, and Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology.

Director of the Diagnostic Section for 36 years at Mercy Hospital.
She was a Registered Medical Technologist and Registered Microbiologist.

Through out her years of work, she observed much progression in the field from the old days when they used to keep frogs, mice, rabbits and sheep in the lab and even the use of tear gas.

Member of Bethany Presbyterian Church at Blaine St. at Chandler Ave.

Friends received Saturday from 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 146 Chandler Ave., Pastor Denise Todero, officiating. Private interment Grandview Cemetery.
