Obituary

Peat, Bertha E., 95, Johnstown, passed away August 2, 2022, at Windber Hospice. Born January 23, 1927, to the late Edward and Cora Jane (Crouse) Houston. Preceded in death by husband, James Peat; brother, Wilbur Houston (Lydia); and sister, Sylvia Kaufman (Robert). Survived by nieces, Bonnie Jane Hershberger (Willis); Connie Brinham (David); Susan Houston; Elizabeth Poborski (William); Michelle Hershberger; and Courtney Buffy (Travis); and nephews, William Poborski; Brock Buffy; and Blaze Buffy. Bertha was a 1945 graduate of Johnstown High School and retired from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. She was a member of Westmont Church of the Brethren. Bertha’s favorite hobbies included shopping and making her famous fudge. Family will receive friends Tuesday August 9th from 4-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc, 146 Chandler Ave., where a service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Committal to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
