Obituary

Mackell, Brian L., 84, Johnstown, passed away November 27, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center.  Born August 24, 1939, to the late William J. & Alice M. (Rockstrah) Mackell.  Survived by beloved wife of 63 years, Gloria J. (Hammer) Mackell; daughter, Sherry N. James and husband Roland; brother, Dennis J. Mackell; grandchildren, Wade James and wife Tabitha; Lindsey (James) Corcetti married to Michael; and six beautiful great grandchildren, Addison, Liv, Silas, Taven, Louden and Jet. Brian was a riveter, welder, crew leader and temp foreman for Bethlehem Steel Car Shop and Johnstown America for a combined 37 years of service. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, and we know he is in the loving arms of our Savior waiting for the rest of us. His favorite past times were spending time with his wife and family, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, and sitting on the back porch. Brian also loved mowing the lawn, which earned him the nickname “The Lawn Ranger” by his family. In his later years, Brian learned to love cooking and making the best soups!
