Penrod, Calvin L., 75, Johnstown, died Aug. 5, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family. Born May 23, 1941, Johnstown, son of the late Thomas and Helen (Felix) Penrod. Preceded in death by brother, Dave Penrod and brother-in-law, Phil Howard; step-mother, Beverly “Sis” Penrod. Survived by his loving wife, Vida (Varnish); daughters, Diana Sager; Kathleen Alwine; and Carol Schalles and husband, Robert, all of Johnstown; grandchildren, Ryan, Crystal, Courtney, Kayla, and Joshua; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger Penrod and wife, Pat, Elton; Sharon Peterson; Linda Howard; Kenny Penrod and wife, Becky; Tommy Penrod; Duane “Kim” Penrod and wife, Kay; and Jimmy Penrod and wife, Natalie, all of Johnstown; step-brother, Charles Sowerbrower and wife, Sue, OH; and sister-in-law, Beverly Penrod, Somerset. Calvin was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired truck driver, retiring from W.C. McQuaide, Inc. He enjoyed drinking at his three favorite watering holes: the Russian Club, the Alcove; and the Sheridan AC. At his request, there will be no viewing or services.
