Obituary

Pastor Donald Edward Peters Jr. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on August 24, 2026. He started off as a propane delivery driver with Suburban Propane in Ferndale and started his ministry. Pastor Don became a licensed minister at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, was ordained at Nanty Glo Church of the Brethren in 1990, and preached at Raven Run Church of the Brethren from 1991 to 1996. Pastor Don then moved to Lewistown, Pennsylvania in 1996 and preached at the Pine Glenn Church of the Brethren until 2016. Pastor Don had one final move to the Center Hill Church of the Brethren and remained there in a pastoral capacity through June 2024. When he received his most recent cancer diagnosis, he remained an active participant in services, even while home bound, through his death. Pastoring was Don’s life, career, and passion, that he shared with hundreds of people across the world. He loved the outdoors, from fishing trips with his friends to camping with family and friends.

Don was the son of the late Donald Edward Peters Sr. and Janet Peters. Don is survived by Ann Peters, to whom he was married for 46 years. Don had three children, Shawn (Trish) Peters, Nathan (Tara) Peters, and Emily (Nick) Wig. Don had three grandchildren, Michael Peters, Presley Peters, and Ainsley Peters. Don was incredibly proud of his children and their growing families.

Don’s family will receive guests August 29, 2026, from 9 a.m. until time of memorial service at 10 a.m. at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center Hill Covenant Brethren Church Missions Fund, or another charity of your choosing in Donald’s name.
