Obituary

Shirk, Doris Faye (Findley), 79, Vintondale, died February 15, 2016 at home.  Born May 25, 1936 in Vintondale; daughter of the late Archie M. and Floyd (Shaffer) Findley.  Preceded in death by brothers, Archie, Raymond, Dean, and Lee Findley; sisters, Mildred Findley, Gayle Gruber, Ruth Mack,  and Carole Marsh.  Survived by husband of 61 years, Donald T. Shirk Sr. and children, Donald Jr. married to Cynthia (Daughenbaugh), Nanty Glo; Karen Johnson, Nanty Glo; Mendy Shaffer, married to Jeff, Vintondale; and Rick Shirk, and fiancé, Becky Wise, Vinco; 14 grandchildren; 20 Great-grandchildren; with 3 on the way.  Also, brothers, Kenneth and Gene Findley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was an active leader in the 4-H for 41 years.  She enjoyed camping at their camp in Liberty Twp. and was an avid BINGO player.  She out fished her fisherman husband anytime they went and loved crocheting, knitting, and plastic canvas.  She worked hard all year round to make her kids, grandkids and great grandkids special holiday items.  No matter what it was that you showed her she could make it.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20th, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Vintondale.  Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Exclusive provider of “Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com
