Obituary

Grech, Doris J., 86, Johnstown, passed away March 7, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 17, 1930, to the late Arthur and Helen (Koontz) Maurer. Preceded in death by sister, Joanne; and grandson, Buddy Grech.  Survived by loving husband of 63 years, James; children, Jeannine; Patricia; and Richard Grech, and wife Deborah; cousin Ida Ritchey; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Doris graduated from Ferndale High School in 1948. She worked at Goldstein-Levine in the sample room and then at Westmont Hilltop High School in the cafeteria. Doris was an active lifetime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. For at least 15 years, Doris volunteered her time at the Lutheran Home. She enjoyed sewing, working in the yard with her flowers, and golfing for the Ladies League. Friends will be received Fri. Mar. 11 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rev. Susan Mentzer, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1348 Virginia Ave. Johnstown, PA 15906.
