Obituary

Jones, Earnest Jr., 88, passed into life eternal on June 29, 2025 at the Hill Top Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born May 30, 1937, in Selma, AL, to the late Earnest and Limmie Jones.  Preceded in death by his wife, Della White Jones.  Earnest leaves to cherish his memories; brother-in law, James White, of Youngstown, OH; bonus son, Clifton White (Vanessa), of Alabaster, AL; daughter, Adrienne Byrd (Damon), of Lanham, MD; bonus grandson, Brandon White; granddaughter, Taylor Byrd; nephew, Warren (Wanda), and all church members were cherished.  Earnest was a Dallas County 1955 graduate of R. B. Hudson High School, graduated from Alabama State College and attended seminary.  Earnest was a pastor serving in the ministry faithfully alongside his wife and family.  He pastored most of the time at St. Paul A.M.E. church in Milton and Bethel A.M.E. church in Williamsport, PA.  At Bethel A.M.E. church in Johnstown, PA he served as pastor for seven (7) years before retiring, after 50+ years, and settling in the Johnstown area.  Earnest enjoyed vegetable gardening and watching the news, especially about political topics.  A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.  Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., “Exclusive Provider of Veterans and Family Memorial Care.” Condolences may be made at HindmanFuneralHomes.com.
