Obituary

Penrod, Edward Jess, “Ed” “Good Show”, 92, Johnstown, passed away November 21, 2025, at Richland Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born February 19, 1933, to the late Harold and Margaret (Watkins) Penrod. Preceded in death by loving wife, Bonnie (Gramling) Penrod; daughter, Brenda Penrod Nugent; and special friends, Ink Locher; Cal Riek; Big John; and Steve Oleska. Survived by children, Susan Constable; Gail Penrod (William Sheets); Jeffrey Penrod (Susan Hayes-Penrod); Harold Penrod (Loretta Senterfitt); 14 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren, all of which he adored. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a professional truck driver. He was a talented mechanic who could fix anything presented to him. For 30 years, he was a proprietor of West End Auto on Haws Pike. Ed enjoyed socializing and spending time with family and friends. His favorite hang out spot was the B-29 Tavern, where he could often be found playing pool or pinnacle. Ed loved fishing and was a world traveler. Blue crabs never stood a chance with Ed and his son Jeff. Ed always looked forward to Thursday night at McDonald’s with the 90+ club. Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A service will be held at a later date. In memory of Ed, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
