Obituary
Walker, Edward “Ed” Joseph, 84, Johnstown, passed away on May 8, 2026. Born October 18, 1941, to the late Edward James and Hilda (Wincer) Walker. Preceded in death by loving wife, Harriet “Jean” Walker; brother, Thomas Walker; and sisters, Esther Helsel (Jack), Virginia Lloyd (Gene), and Linda Bourdette (Lou). Survived by daughters, Christine Walker and Denise Willette (Matthew); grandchildren, Samantha Willette (fiancé, Jason Moreo), Kyle Willette (fiancé Brandy Keesee), Josephine Wooten (Keegan), and Alec Willette; sisters, Sally, Martha, Kathy, Alice (Don), Karen (Bill), and Mary; and many nieces and nephews.
Ed graduated from Conemaugh Township HS in May 1959. He enlisted in the Marine Corps right after graduation at the age of 17. He then retired from the USMC after 23 years of service as a Master Sergeant and Aircraft Equipment Chief. Ed attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, earning degrees in Economics and Political Science. After which he accepted a position at the Library at UPJ and worked there until retiring from his civilian career. He was a life member of the VFW, Marine Corps Association, and the Johnstown Stamp Club. Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family, stamp and coin collecting, fishing, camping, and traveling to historical battlefields. He touched many people’s lives in every stage of his careers. He will be missed by many.
